IT Generalist (2+1 Year Contract)

The Corporation of The City of North Bay is accepting applications for the position of IT Generalist. This position is being offered as a 2-year contract, with the potential for a 1-year extension. Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, the newly created position of IT Generalist works closely with both the Service Desk area and the Network and Systems Administration area to provide first-line support to end-users, troubleshooting technical issues, resolving problems, and ensuring seamless operation of IT systems. This position assists with system maintenance, network security, driving process improvements, and administration tasks while collaborating with the IT team to address complex issues and improve overall efficiency, all while playing a crucial role in optimizing IT systems and infrastructure across the organization.

Major Responsibilities of this role will include:

• Providing technical support to end-users, including issue diagnosis and resolution.
• Assisting with system administration tasks such as patch management and performance monitoring.
• Supporting network and security operations to maintain a secure and stable IT environment.
• Working with the IT team to escalate unresolved issues.
• Creating and updating end-user and system documentation.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
• 1-2 years of IT support or system administration experience.
• Proficiency with O365, Azure AD.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting Windows and mobile OS environments.

Assets:

• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security +, VM Ware, Microsoft.
• Familiarity with ITIL practices or equivalent frameworks.

Hours of work: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday (35 hours/week) in office.

The current annual salary range for this non-union position is $70,243-$87,795.
