The Corporation of the City of North Bay is currently accepting applications for the position of Sewer & Water Operator. Under the direction of the Sewer & Water Supervisor, inspects, maintains, repairs and installs municipal water distribution, wastewater collection and storm sewer systems.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Education or equivalent.
  • Must possess a Class 1 Water Distribution Certificate and a Class 1 Wastewater Collection Certificate
  • Must have worked at least one (1) year as a Sewer & Water Operator-in-training
  • Must be familiar with all sewer and water pipes and fittings
  • Should be able to operate most sewer and water specialized equipment
  • Must have good work habits and be able to follow instructions effectively
  • Must be able to carry out major sewer and water repairs and installations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must have sufficient clerical ability to complete necessary reports
  • Must hold a valid Ontario class “D” driver’s license with a “Z” endorsement
  • Have good knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
  • Required to participate in the Duty System and available for emergency work
  • Operators-in-Training (OIT) may be considered for this position at the OIT rate of pay
