Dog Parks

The City of North Bay maintains one dedicated off-leash dog park, along with four seasonal locations where dogs can run and play in a safe, enclosed space.

Bruman Community Dog Park

Located at Champlain Park at the end of Premier Road, Bruman Community Dog Park is a permanent off-least dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs.

The park also includes a naturalized wooded trail section where you and your dog can explore, shade tables and benches, and a walkway connected to accessible parking.

Seasonal Off-Leash Dog Parks

Four outdoor rink locations are converted into temporary off-leash dog areas each spring, summer and fall. The rink boards are gated to create enclosed spaces where dogs can run and play.

Dog waste bag stations are available at each location.

Before You Visit

Off-leash dog parks are shared spaces for dogs and their handlers.

You must watch your dog and make sure they are under verbal control at all times. Dog handlers are responsible for their dogs and for any injuries or damage their dogs may cause while using the park.

Rules for dogs:

  • All dogs must be licensed and vaccinated.
  • Dogs must be leashed before entering and when leaving the off-leash dog park.
  • Dogs that are in heat, sick or aggressive are not permitted in the park.
  • Dogs must not be allowed to dig holes.

Rules for handlers:

  • Pick up after your dog right away and dispose of waste in the designated containers.
  • A maximum of three dogs per owner or handler is permitted.
  • Dog handlers must be physically able to handle their dogs.
  • Food and breakable containers are not permitted in the park.
  • Limit the use of toys and treats to help prevent conflicts between dogs.

Dogs That May Not Be Suitable for the Park

For their safety and well-being, an off-leash dog park may not be suitable for:

  • Puppies under four months old.
  • Injured, stressed or older dogs, including dogs with hip dysplasia or arthritis.
