Under the direction of the Chief Building Official, the Permit Intake Clerk will receive and review building permit applications, construction plans, specifications and documents to ensure complete application in compliance with Ontario Building Code and other laws and/or by-laws; responds to enquiries regarding the Ontario Building Code.

Qualifications:  

  • A two (2) year post-secondary Diploma in architectural, engineering or building technology programs or other relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum six (6) months’ previous relevant experience. Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
  • Must possess or in process of obtaining the following Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing BCIN qualification requirements for building officials: General Legal and House.
  • Ability to read and interpret design and construction drawings.
  • Demonstrated and proficient knowledge in computers including Microsoft office and on-line applications; experience with PSD Citywide is considered an asset.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and tact.
  • Excellent organizational, customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, set and shift priorities as required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Hours of Work:   Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (37.5 hours per week)

Environment:      Unionized 

Rate of Pay:        $28.88 per hour
