Fire & Emergency Services Clerk (Permanent Part-Time)

Applications are invited for the permanent part-time position of Fire & Emergency Services Clerk in the Fire and Emergency Services department. Under the direction of the Fire Chief, the Clerk prioritizes and performs a number of administrative tasks to achieve outcomes required by the departmental management team as well as provides support for the Administrative Assistant and other staff members.

Qualifications: 

  • Grade 12 Diploma
  • Two years’ progressive relevant experience in an office environment, experience with payroll will be considered an asset
  • Ability to respond to a fast-paced changing environment
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Exceptional planning, organizing and time management
  • Ability to de-escalate and deal tactfully with the public and City staff
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Thorough understanding, including detailed functional knowledge, of technology and programs such as:
    • Microsoft Office
    • Records Management
    • Relevant financial/information systems
  • Knowledge of these software packages is an asset
    • Website content management software
    • Crisys software
    • Payroll/Financial software

Hours of Work:       Tuesday to Thursday, 9 am to 2 pm - 15 hours per week; plus Vacation Coverage as required (up to 37.5 hours per week)

Rate of Pay:            $29.45 per hour
