Applications are being accepted for the position of Junior Plan Examiner within the Corporation of the City of North Bay’s Building Department. Under the direction of the Plan Examiner, receives and reviews building permit applications, construction plans, specifications and documents to ensure compliance with Ontario Building Code and other laws and/or by-laws, issues building permits on behalf of the Chief Building Official and responds to enquiries regarding the Ontario Building Code and Municipal by-laws.
Qualifications:
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (37.5 Hours per week)
Environment: Unionized
Hourly Rate: $31.54 (2026 Rate)
In accordance with Article 37 of the CUPE Local 122 Collective Agreement, employees will have five (5) years from the commencement of full-time employment as a Junior Plan Examiner to become Ministry qualified and registered as a Building Inspector. The City of North Bay will support training and qualification opportunities. Once the Junior Plan Examiner meets the requirements of the Building Inspector I job description and the qualifications of the Ministry, the position will be reclassified as Building Inspector I and will be registered as a Building Inspector as per the Ontario Building Code requirements.
