The City of North Bay is moving to a fully online election, with no paper ballots or vote-counting tabulators. Residents can vote using their own computer, tablet or smartphone, or visit a voter assistance centre to use a computer provided by the City. Election staff will be available to help anyone who needs assistance.
When to Vote
The voting period runs from 10 a.m. on Oct. 15 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 26.
During the advance voting period, computers and election staff will be available at City Hall to assist residents with voting.
On Election Day, Oct. 26, voter assistance will be available at Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens and WFCU Place, with computers and election staff available to help residents cast their ballots.
The City will also continue its approach from the 2022 election by working with local institutions to help eligible voters access the electronic voting system. Election staff will provide training to designated staff at local long-term care facilities, the North Bay Regional Health Centre and the North Bay Jail.
Building on Experience
North Bay has used online voting before. In the 2022 Municipal Election, the City used a hybrid system that offered both online and traditional voting. Of the 15,964 votes cast, 11,193 – about 70 per cent – were cast online.
The 2026 election builds on that experience, while moving to an entirely electronic voting system and maintaining in-person assistance for residents who need it.
