North Bay, ON – Nov. 10, 2023 – A Public Open House will be held at North Bay City Hall on Nov. 22, 2023, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., as part of the development of a strategy to enhance the safety of our city's streets and sidewalks.
The Open House, set to take place in the main lobby, offers an opportunity for residents to learn more about the road safety strategy project. Attendees can explore collision analysis information, pose questions, and provide valuable input.
Prior to the Open House, residents are encouraged to complete the North Bay Road Safety Strategy Survey. The survey, which closes on Nov. 20, 2023, is anonymous and will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategy's direction.
With over 800 annual collisions, including 100 resulting in serious injuries or fatalities, the strategy aims to adopt a holistic approach to road safety within the City.
Led by engineering consulting firm CIMA+, the strategy's development includes a review of existing transportation infrastructure standards, incorporating insights from public consultations and stakeholders.
Once implemented, the Road Safety Strategy will inform decisions on road design, traffic regulation, signage, and potential safety measures such as automated speed enforcement. The strategy, slated for Council approval in summer 2024, seeks to reduce fatal and serious collisions, fostering safer roads for all residents.
