North Bay, ON – April 29, 2026 – Sandbag stations remain available this week due to ongoing flood potential along the Lake Nipissing shoreline.
Due to decreasing demand, staffing at the Champlain Park and Sunset Park locations is being reduced. Pre-filled sandbags will continue to be available at both sites, and staff will monitor supplies regularly.
The Public Works yard on Franklin Street will remain open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as a self-service sandbag filling site.
Sandbags are intended to reinforce breakwalls and act as barriers to prevent water from reaching structures.
Auxiliary pumps at the Wastewater Treatment Plant on Memorial Drive remain on standby to assist with the discharge of fully treated wastewater if needed.
The City continues to monitor lake levels and weather conditions closely and will provide updates as conditions change.
