North Bay, ON., Oct. 16, 2023 – Expectations were once again fulfilled with a total of 3,324.35 pounds of food and $4,080.60 collected Wednesday and Thursday at the annual ‘Fill a Fire Truck” event at Parker’s Your Independent Grocer and Sobeys Algonquin.
Fire Prevention Officer Chris Nichol said, “the generosity of our community is tremendous and North Bay Fire & Emergency Services looks forward each year to this annual event to help such a worthwhile cause while promoting Fire Prevention Week.”
This year’s theme, “Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention.” ties in perfectly with the Food Bank as we remind everyone to stay alert when cooking as cooking continues to be the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries in Ontario; with unattended cooking the leading cause of cooking fires and deaths.
Shout out to Parker’s Your Independent Grocer and Sobey’s Algonquin for their continued support and generosity and the North Bay Food Bank for the tireless service they provide in our community.
