Drivers should expect delays and lane restrictions next week as the City completes paving work on O’Brien Street, Algonquin Avenue and McKeown Avenue.
O’Brien Street, between Highway 11/17 and Lansdowne Avenue, will be closed Monday, Aug. 31, weather permitting, while paving takes place. Traffic will be detoured via Lansdowne Avenue and Algonquin Avenue. There will be no access to O’Brien Street from Highway 11/17. Local access for residents and businesses will be maintained from the Lansdowne Avenue end.
Paving on Algonquin Avenue, between Highway 11/17 and Lansdowne Avenue, and on McKeown Avenue, between Algonquin Avenue/Highway 11 North and Champlain Avenue, will also take place next week, weather permitting. The roads will remain open, but drivers should expect lane restrictions and delays, particularly during busy periods.
The work is part of the City’s annual road resurfacing program. The sections being paved have already been milled and pulverized in preparation for the new asphalt.
Drivers are asked to slow down, follow posted signs and allow extra time when travelling through these areas.
