Public Art in North Bay

On this page

Public art brings creativity, colour, and character to North Bay's shared spaces. Through murals, installations, and other projects, the City works with local and regional artists to enhance public spaces, celebrate artistic talent, and strengthen community identity.

The City's Public Art Advisory Committee provides advice on public art initiatives, policies, and opportunities, helping to guide the development of public art throughout North Bay.

The City periodically invites artists and creative professionals to participate in public art projects through calls for submissions. Information about new opportunities will be posted here as they become available.

WFCU Place Mural

Completed in August 2026 by North Bay artist Corbin Elliot, the mural at WFCU Place welcomes visitors to the City's new Community and Recreation Centre.

Located near the facility's entrance, the large-scale artwork was commissioned by the City in partnership with the Public Art Advisory Committee to celebrate North Bay's culture, recreation, and community connections. The mural adds colour and creativity to a space designed to bring people together through sports, recreation, and community activities.

Kiwanis All Wheel Park Public Art

Unveiled in July 2025, the public art installations at Kiwanis All-Wheel Park feature a colourful mural designed by local artist Zandra Razack and 12 decorative lamp post wraps showcasing artwork by local and regional artists.

The mural design was selected through a public voting process, while the lamp post artwork was chosen from submissions reviewed by the City's Public Art Advisory Committee. Together, the installations bring colour and creativity to the downtown waterfront park, celebrating local artistic talent and enhancing the space for park users and visitors.

Overpass Banner Project

The Overpass Banner Project features artwork by local and regional artists on banners installed along the Main Street and Lakeshore Drive overpass. Selected through a juried process, the designs help enhance one of the city's prominent transportation corridors.

Traffic Box Art Project

Launched in 2020, the Traffic Box Art Project transforms traffic control boxes into displays of artwork created by local and regional artists. Located at intersections throughout the city, the installations bring art into everyday public spaces and showcase the community's creative talent.

An interactive map is available to explore the traffic box artwork and its locations.

Downtown Hydro Box Art

The City partnered with the Public Art Advisory Committee and Clean, Green, Beautiful North Bay on an initiative to feature original artwork on hydro boxes in downtown North Bay.

The project invited local and regional artists to submit designs for vinyl wraps intended to enhance the appearance of public spaces along Main Street.

Panel Art Project

Through the Panel Art Project, artwork created by local and regional artists was selected for installation on exterior panels at Champlain Park and Sunset Park. The pieces add visual interest to these public facilities while highlighting local creativity.
