Demerit Point System

This Demerit Point System is designed to help STR operators follow the applicable regulations to maintain public health & safety and minimize nuisances. The City encourages citizens to notify Staff of known licensed and/or unlicensed STRs throughout the City that are in contravention of the Demerit Point System by filling out the STR Complaint Form below. Complaint forms are forwarded to and investigated by the City's Property Standards Officer.  

Please note the following: 

  1. A STR licence will be suspended for a period of one year when three demerit
    points or confirmed violations are determined within one year
  2. A STR licence is revoked when one additional demerit point or confirmed violation
    is received within one year of the licence suspension date
