Electrical Technician (Temporary Full-time)

Applications are invited for the position of Electrical Technician within the City of North Bay’s Infrastructure & Operations Division. Under the direction of the Water and Wastewater Maintenance Manager, the electrical technician performs a wide variety of skilled duties in support of the City of North Bay’s automated Water and Wastewater systems.
Selection Criteria:
- Two (2) year Electrical Technician Diploma or Two (2) year SCADA Technician Diploma with Five (5) years related experience as a Construction and Maintenance Electrician working in an industrial environment.
- Or demonstrated equivalent knowledge gained from Ten (10) or more years’ experience and or on the job training.
- Journeyman’s License as a Construction and Maintenance Electrician.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industrial electrical systems including power supply, transformers, motor control, variable frequency drives, high voltage switch gear, generators, process controllers, process instruments, pumps, fans and fixtures.
- Familiarity working in 600V panels.
- Capability to read design drawings and schematics for electrical supply, electronic and process control and related equipment.
- Computer proficiency and excellent interpersonal, problem solving and economic thinking skills.
- Experience in the installation, maintenance, repair, modification of electrical, electronic and instrumentation equipment;
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and SCADA software an asset.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes an asset.
- Sufficient clerical ability to complete necessary reports and materials requisitions.
- Must attain MECP Operator in Training Certification within 3 months; and is required to achieve and hold Water and Wastewater Treatment and Distribution Level 1 Certification.
- Must possess a valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license.
- Subject to on-call, which may include rotating-duty schedule, weekends and 24-hour emergency call out with little or no notice.
Hours of Work: 0730 hrs. to 1600 hrs.- Monday to Friday

Duration: Temporary Full-Time (approx. 11 months)
Hourly Rate: $38.09 per hour (2026 Rate)
