North Bay, ON – Feb. 5, 2021 – Mayor Al McDonald is proud to issue an official Proclamation recognizing 2021 as a year of inclusion and equity in North Bay.
“I would like to commend the newly-created Equity and Inclusion North Bay – Working Group for its efforts to reduce barriers to equity, diversity and inclusion in our community,” said Mayor McDonald. “As a City, we are committed to ensuring that everyone is treated fairly and is afforded the same opportunities.”
North Bay City Council endorsed the Equity and Inclusion Working Group last fall and appointed Coun. Mac Bain as a City representative.
“Thank you to Mayor Al and the City Council for proclaiming 2021 a Year of Inclusion in North Bay. An excellent step in helping our group of engaged and passionate community leaders and volunteers promote a year of education and awareness around diversity and inclusion issues, starting with Black History Month in February,” said Gemma Victor, on behalf of Equity Inclusion North Bay.
“The theme for the year is ‘Our Shared History.’ Our plan includes engaging with the entire community throughout the year to educate with passive and active programming. Equity Inclusion North Bay would like to thank Maurice Switzer and Heidi Buck for being instrumental in getting this piece of work off the ground.”
