North Bay, ON – March 27, 2020 – The City of North Bay’s Emergency Operations Control Group met this morning to discuss new developments and planning requirements related to the current COVID-19 situation.
The group, which includes the Mayor, the City’s Chief Administrative Officer, the Fire Chief, the Police Chief, the President and CEO of the North Bay Regional Health Centre and the Medical Officer of Health, is responsible for strategic decisions, coordination and cooperation among many community partners leading up to or after the declaration of a municipal emergency.
The Emergency Operations Control Group has previously met during this pandemic and will continue to meet and continuously improve plans and actions to meet the ever changing needs.
Among other items, this morning’s discussions included the supply and management of personal protective equipment (PPE) for local health care workers and emergency personnel, as well as appropriate measures needed to protect essential workers. The group is actively monitoring the situation and will be continuing to regularly meet to respond to new developments, ensure that there are contingencies in place and that the community is provided with appropriate and timely updates
