North Bay, ON – March 30, 2022 – All North Bay Transit buses will soon be equipped with bike racks that can hold two regular bicycles.
Funded through the Public Transit stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP), bicycle racks on buses will make it easy for riders to transition between active transportation and public transit.
“Bike racks will enhance the City’s public transit service by allowing passengers to travel with their bikes to destinations within the city such as parks and beaches, trails, the downtown and the waterfront,” said Coun. Chris Mayne Chairman of Council’s Infrastructure and Operations Committee.
Bike rack installations are now underway and are expected to be completed by the end of April. Also funded through ICIP, the bus bike racks will be complimented by the installation later this year of new bicycle storage areas at key cycling destinations.
