Bring your yard waste to the Organic Drop-off Depot located at 112 Patton Street. The depot is open from April until November (weather permitting) and operates Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. This service is free of charge for residential households. Businesses will be subject to disposal fees.
Brush is only accepted at the Merrick Landfill on Sand Dam Road (charges apply). Free brush drop-off at the Merrick Landfill is available from April 15 until June 7.
The organic material collected at the drop-off depot is converted into compost which is then sold to the public at a very low cost, allowing the City to maintain the program.
Leaf and Yard waste that is placed at the curb is treated as a waste, and not diverted from the landfill. Any leaf and yard bags that are put out on garbage day will be counted towards the 2 bag limit.
Only Leaf and Yard material that is brought to the Public Drop-off will be converted into compost and diverted from the landfill.
The City of North Bay strongly encourages residents to bring their leaf and yard waste to the depot to help divert this material from our landfill.
