Celebrating Ontario Heritage Week

North Bay, ON – Feb. 14, 2020 – The City of North Bay and the North Bay Municipal Heritage Committee is inviting the community to celebrate Ontario Heritage Week 2020, which runs Feb. 17 to 23.

Heritage Week is an opportunity for residents to remember the people and events that have shaped North Bay and to learn more about our City’s rich history and heritage.

Those interested in exploring North Bay’s past are encouraged to browse the Heritage Committee’s catalogue of podcast episodes available at https://www.cityofnorthbay.ca/heritage-show. Launched in 2018, the Heritage Diary Podcast features informative interviews with a variety of guests. New episodes are released monthly. The podcast is also available at on iTunes, Google Play, Tune In Radio, Stitcher and Pocket Casts.

The Municipal Heritage Committee also has several other events to watch for in 2020, including the announcement of the Youth Photography Contest and the unveiling of a new Heritage Site Plaque at Lee Park.

The Heritage Committee is made up of community volunteers appointed by North Bay City Council. Established in 1996, the Committee’s mandate is to advise and assist Council on matters related to heritage places and buildings.
