2026 Budget Survey

The City of North Bay invited residents to share their priorities for the 2026 budget through an online survey conducted in the fall of 2025. With 129 participants, the survey gathered input on services, infrastructure, taxes, and long-term funding priorities. The results provide insight into community priorities and will help guide City decisions and investments.

Key Findings

  • The majority of survey participants (32%) were aged 35–44, with 22% aged 65 and over.
  • Residents identified community safety and well-being as the top priority for additional funding.
  • Improving roads and sidewalks was ranked as the highest transportation priority, followed by expanding transit and adding active transportation routes.
  • About 65% of residents view investing in modernization and digitization of City operations as very or somewhat important.
  • Views on tax/fee increases are split: 49% of Budget Survey respondents are willing to support a tax increase to maintain or expand services, while 51% prefer no increase, even if it means reducing services
  • Over half of respondents rated community safety and well-being (57%) and core infrastructure (48%) as the most important areas for budget investment.
