North Bay's new youth transit initiative is already making an impact.
Since launching in late May, nearly 800 youth have signed up for BayGo, the City's free summer transit program for residents ages 12 to 17. On average, close to 200 riders are using their BayGo cards each day, helping young people get around the city to work, recreation, programs, appointments and time with friends.
BayGo provides unlimited access to North Bay Transit until Sept. 7, 2026, making it easier for youth to stay active, connected and independent throughout the summer.
The program is part of the City's commitment to supporting community safety and well-being by reducing transportation barriers and creating more opportunities for youth to participate in community life.
BayGo is delivered in partnership with Planet Youth and Canadore College.
Whether it's getting to a summer job, heading to the waterfront, participating in recreation programs or simply meeting up with friends, BayGo is helping young people access more of what North Bay has to offer.
Youth ages 12 to 17 can still register for BayGo throughout the summer.
To receive a BayGo card, visit the North Bay Transit Office, bring identification confirming your age, and have your photo taken. The card is valid for unlimited travel on North Bay Transit until Sept. 7, 2026.
Parents and guardians of participating youth are also invited to provide contact information for a voluntary end-of-summer survey. Feedback from participants will help the City better understand how youth are using transit and inform future planning for youth mobility and services.
