Free Seamless Transfers Between Ontario Northland and North Bay Transit
North Bay, ON – April 25, 2025 – The City of North Bay is thrilled to announce the launch of an innovative new pilot program in partnership with Ontario Northland, aimed at enhancing transit services for residents and visitors.
“We’re pleased to see Ontario Northland Transportation Commission working with the City of North Bay to improve transportation services for residents. This six-month pilot project will make transportation in Nipissing more cost-efficient for people travelling on the Ontario Northland buses,” said MPP Vic Fedeli.
As part of the pilot, Ontario Northland passengers will be able to use their Ontario Northland ticket to access municipal transit – providing a seamless ticketing solution for the ‘first and last mile’ of their journey.
"This initiative represents a significant step forward in our commitment to offering efficient and accessible transit solutions. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have on our community,” said Drew Poeta, North Bay Transit Manager.
Starting Monday, April 28, the pilot program will run for six months, during which ridership data and feedback will be collected to evaluate the effectiveness of this new service. This partnership promises to provide a hassle-free and affordable way for passengers to access public transportation in North Bay.
"We are dedicated to continually improving our services and collaborating with the communities we serve," said Bob Sloss, Director of Passenger Operations and Customer Experience at Ontario Northland. "This pilot program is designed to make traveling more convenient for our passengers by offering a seamless transition between provincial and municipal transit."
