North Bay, ON – Dec. 10, 2020 – The City of North Bay will be updating timing plans at a number of signalized intersections during the week of Dec. 14 to 18. As a result, the changes to the signalized intersections will ultimately enhance traffic movement efficiency.
The updates will result in more efficient travel times for motorists by implementing a time of day timing plans where left-turn movements will be removed on main corridors during certain time periods of the day; changes to inbound and outbound co-ordination to accommodate morning and evening traffic flows; and the use of side-street vehicle detection to maximize corridor timing. Please be advised that there will be some noticeable changes to existing traffic flows.
Timing will be updated at all 54 signalized intersections in the city over the next three years. This year, the work will focus on 22 locations along main arteries such as Trout Lake Road, Lakeshore Drive, McKeown Avenue and Cassells Street. Locations next year will include signalized intersection within the downtown core. This work will be carried out by the City of North Bay Engineering Department in conjunction with the City of North Bay Traffic Department.
