City adds multi-use court surfaces to two City parks

North Bay, ON – July. 21, 2023 – The City of North Bay Parks Department has exciting plans for this summer.

Staff will be installing multi-use court surfaces at Graniteville Playground and Ferris Lions Park – Massey rink. The existing surfaces at these locations will be paved to make them suitable for various recreational activities, including basketball and ball hockey. Additionally, new rink boards and basketball nets will be installed.

The decision to create these multi-use court surfaces was based on the findings of the Parks Master Plan, which identified a shortage of court facilities in the City. To address this shortage, the plan recommended converting some outdoor rinks into multi-use recreational surfaces.

The work on these projects is scheduled to begin in the next few weeks and will continue through the fall. Once completed, these paved surfaces will offer residents and visitors in North Bay more opportunities for outdoor recreational activities during the summer months, while still serving as outdoor rinks for winter use.
