Oak Street Pedestrian Crossover Construction

North Bay, ON – Oct. 07, 2025 – The City of North Bay is advising the public that construction of a new Pedestrian Crossover on Oak Street, between Fraser and Ferguson Streets, is expected to begin next week.

This new crossover will replace the existing “courtesy crossing” at this location and is being added to enhance pedestrian safety. The design will be similar to the crossovers on Main Street, but with the addition of overhead arms and flashing lights.

A pedestrian push button will activate the flashing lights to alert drivers and cyclists that they must stop and yield. By law, vehicles and bicycles must stop to allow pedestrians to cross and wait until they have completely reached the other side before proceeding.

Drivers should expect temporary lane reductions in the construction area and are asked to use caution while passing through.
