Residential Rental Housing Licensing (RRHL) By-law

The Residential Rental Housing By-Law 2012-55 came into effect on March 5, 2012. The By-law requires all properties with 3 to 5 rental bedrooms to obtain a license from the City.  The By-law limits the number of rental bedrooms to 5. The exception is owner occupied dwellings with 2 or less renters.

The RRHL program is currently being reviewed and is on hold. Those operating rental units are required to meet the province’s Fire Code and Building Code and must comply with all City of North Bay By-laws (ex. Zoning By-law, Property Standards etc.).
