The Parks Master Plan was adopted by North Bay City Council in 2021 following many months of development and stakeholder input. The plan provides a 20-year roadmap to help guide the City in delivering an equitable network of park spaces to residents within the context of the existing outdoor recreation sites, evolving recreational needs, evolving demographics and new park spaces.
A key finding of the plan is that North Bay presently maintains a high-quality parks inventory. As such, the plan does not propose to significantly overhaul this inventory, but instead, proposes to adjust and develop amenities as required in order create a park network that meets the needs of residents within developed areas of the City. The plan reviews each park space within the community and provides recommendations. In some cases, the plan recommends spaces remain as is. In other cases, recommendations include the addition of more formal play equipment and recreational space. Recommended projects would be implemented over the lifetime of the plan based on available capital and operational budgets, as well as Council priorities.
