Curbside Collection

Garbage is collected weekly, and recycling is picked up every two weeks on a rotating schedule. Recycling services are managed by Circular Materials, while the City oversees garbage collection.

Have more garbage than the limit?

Garbage bag tags

When you have more bags than the permitted limit, you can buy tags for $2 each at the Customer Service Centre at City Hall.

Each household may place up to four additional bags with bag tags at the curb on its scheduled garbage collection day. The bags over the limit must abide by the weight and capacity rules above.

When using bag tags on garbage bags, attach them above the knot on the neck of the back and ensure the adhesive ends are stuck together and that the full tag is visible.

When using with a container, place the bag tag clearly on the top bag inside the container.

Application for special consideration for garbage bag limits

You may be eligible for the waste exemption program if you have a reason for special consideration, such as a person in the household with a medical condition or children in the household under the age of four in diapers.
